Select video and audio sources

Webcam Zone Trigger needs to know which video source to monitor. This is usually a webcam, but other options are available. You can also select an audio source. This lets you record video files with sound, and also enables you to use sounds to trigger actions.

To select a video source

  1. In the main window, click .
Zone Trigger detects and list available sources of video input.
  2. Select the input source.

You can point Webcam Zone Trigger at your computer screen, rather than at a webcam. This is useful for tasks like monitoring websites or software. Video screen capture is very resource-expensive. When using this feature, we recommend you lower the frame rate to 1 or 2 frames per second, and switch off lighting triggers.

  3. If your device allows it, chose the resolution of the capture image.

The larger the numbers, the finer the detail. However finer detail uses up more memory.

  4. Enter a meaningful name, such as "Front door camera".
  5. Click OK.
A thumbnail of the source appears in the left side-bar. (Pro Version only)
  6. Drag the source into the main window. (Pro Version only)
Zone Trigger displays the video source in the Viewer.
