Video settings

Change Codec (Button)

Codec for compressing video footage. For compatibility reasons, "Uncompressed Frames" is the default. This provides the best quality, but creates huge files.

A video codec compresses video files. A 40 megabyte video file can be compressed to 4 megabytes by a standard Windows codec, and up to 0.4 megabytes by a newer hi-quality codec (such as the div-X or Xvid). Your computer will have several preinstalled codecs, and you can search the Internet for more.

AVI Video Quality

Use the slider to set the compression level for video files. Lower quality means more compression but smaller files.

Minimum recording for video files

Recording video for at least ten seconds.
